The Cowichan Valley Arts Council were very pleased with the reception from our SAQA show. My piece Red Brick has been traveling with the show. For the last five years I’ve been working on a body of work which encompasses Mending, Darning & Patching. The only fibres used are old woolen blankets: Red Brick is a special wee quilt made for SAQA.
Sept. 27th – Oct. 1st.
The Haven on Gabriola Island was a wonderful location for our annual retreat. Sharing our art work meeting new friends and catching up with the news from our old stitching buddies. I enjoyed the walks around the grounds as much as the weather would permit. The scenery and the ocean were a joy to see. Next year we all meet in Edmonton.
Paste Paper Play
2 day workshop
June 4 & 5, 2013-06-04
This two-day workshop was held at the studio on June 4 & 5, with Janet Peters. It was an opportunity to explore an art form which dates back to the late 16th century when decorated papers were used for book covers and end-sheets. These decorated papers continue to be used in this manner as well as a variety of paper crafts, and provide an excellent background for calligraphy.
Creating original designs, each student will cut their own template and design a unique pattern on black Kona cotton. Rubbings can be made by finding interesting textured items around your home. Shiva Artists Paintstik Oil Colour is a real oil paint in solid form. Because of the special shape and the buttery consistency, they are in many ways easier to use than a brush, and provide you with greater versatility.
Shiva Iridescent Paintstik Oil Colours add an exciting range of colours to your decorating palette. Made from a combination of artists’ and iridescent pigments, these colours glisten and glow with a life of their own.
